Join us for this Global Health Conversation with Dr. Mamphela Ramphele, on Tuesday, April 14th, from 5-6 PM, in Li Ka Shing Room 320 on Stanford Campus. Dr. Ramphele is a world-renowned figure with an outstanding career as an activist, medical doctor, academic, businesswoman, and thought leader.
Dr. Ramphele has served many important roles spanning medicine, social justice, and thought leadership. She was co-founder of The Black Consciousness Movement with Steve Biko that reignited the struggle for freedom in South Africa. She has also served as Vice Chancellor of the University of Cape Town, Managing Director at the World Bank, and leader of many large companies and civil society organisations. She is an author and recipient of many awards, including 24 honorary degrees.
In conversation with Global Health Faculty Fellow and veteran interviewer Paul Costello, Dr. Ramphele will discuss her life, career, and insights on activism and leadership in global health worldwide.
